Finding Books & Materials in Our Library, and Beyond

Looking for that special book, movie, or music CD? If it's out there, we want to help you find it!

You can follow a few steps to try and find it at your own Library, within the greater networked Library system, or within Massachusetts. Still having trouble? Read on to discover how we can help!

Step 1: Please search the C/WMARS Catalog first. This search system will look for titles both in Townsend Public Library and in the C/WMARS Library system, a library network for central and western Massachusetts public and academic libraries with more than 8.5 million physical items and ebooks available to borrow.

Step 2: If the material you want is not available in the C/WMARS catalog, please log in to use the Commonwealth Catalog, sponsored by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners. You will need your library card number and PIN. For additional assistance, please contact the Townsend Public Library.
The Commonwealth Catalog extends your search beyond your local library’s resources. In one easy step, you can search through millions of items at participating libraries across Massachusetts to find the books, DVDs, and music you’re looking for. Make a request and it will be delivered right to your local library for quick pickup.

Step 3: You still can’t find it...What now? The library is here to help!

Visit the library, or fill out the form here to request the title you need. We will search beyond our system of libraries for your query.

If you feel Townsend Public Library should own this title, please fill out this form to suggest a purchase.

If you have more questions about finding materials and resources, please contact Cathy Hill, Senior Library Technician.
