On September 26, 2009 the Hart Free Library Building closed it's doors. Following the closing the people of Townsend shared in a relay of two historic books on Townsend from the old Hart Free Library building to the new Townsend Public Library building. Back in 1929, when the Hart Free Library opened, townspeople made a relay of the library books from Memorial Hall (town hall) to the new library building. Before this time the town's library was housed in a number of homes and businesses before landing in the town hall. Please enjoy these photos of this special event and day.
